`This was a great job for us a completely custom CAT6 Ethernet cabling job. The client had a large list of expectations for this new building he just purchased in the Burbank area near Disney Studios.
OBJECTIVE I:
The first important issue the client wanted was a separate DMARC upstairs in his own work space. The tenant downstairs had over 200 pairs from the local provider in this case AT&T. It took about two days to track down the AT&T engineer for the Los Angeles/Burbank Area. After contacting the AT&T engineer we put together an onsite meet. This meet included the General Contractor,Building owner,LC Wiring Inc and AT&T Engineer. They do a very thorough site survey take everyones cards and sent the building owner and GC the price. The GC had to provide at least 1 - 4 inch conduit from MPOE to new phone / data closet upstairs.
OBJECTIVE II:
The Client wanted us to install the black ladder support used for racking and wire raceway for the data center all over the upper ceiling area "Plenum" by using threaded 3/8 rod with chadsworth clips to hold in the ladder raceway evenly on both sides. This was not your usual request and we got it done.
OBJECTIVE III:
The Client wanted 3 WAP access points with high range this is a very normal request and in most cases we do this for most of our cabling projects
OBJECTIVE IV:
The Client wanted both the front door and back door of the office building to have door strikes with door phones connected to there existing phone system. We purchased new door phones and had the lock smith handle the door strikes both worked perfectly.
OBJECTIVE V:
The Client wanted a complete rack solution with wire management both are a very normal request for mounting servers and management of all the patch cables. Clients who dont' request wire mangement always wished they did or have us come out and add it in.
OBJECTIVEVI:
The Client wanted all the CAT6 patch panels to be the unloaded type and add in the CAT6 keystones with color coding for various parts of the network. We used BLUE for all the Voice jacks,YELLOW for all the data keystones,RED for the T1's coming in from the MPOE,GREEN for the power failure jacks,WHITE for the WAPS,GRAY for the door strikes,BLACK for the ports from the phone system. In the picture below you can see the differnet colors that make up the patch panels.
OBJECTIVE VII:
The Client need one vendor to do all the work for the whole project and move the existing phone system from Los Angeles to Burbank had them up and running in one weekend. All is very do able and was done on time. Remember to always use a licensed contractor.
NOTE:
The Client ask for all the CAT 6 to be Cigarette Wrap with black velcro straps. This is usually done on the last few feet before the rack in the data room. The manufacturers of all cable CAT5e and CAT6 want installers to bundle the cable loosely in J-Hooks every 4 feet and not to wrap to allow for the proper flow of data. We do agree with this practice but I have to say the tight cigarette wrap sure looks great.
